A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light source which is commonly used for automotive such as on Lexus for daytime running lights, Audi for LED tail lights and BMW for LED license plate lights; also widely appears on electronics such as flash lighting, cell phone for background lighting, even household for example display panels and Television. Overall, the most places the LEDs are used as a new lighting source to replace the traditional incandescent lamps and halogen light bulbs.
Surface mount technology (SMT) is a method for constructing electronic circuits in which the components (surface-mounted components/devices) are mounted directly onto the surface of printed circuit boards (PCBs). An electronic device so made is called a surface mount device (SMD). By using this kind of SMD technology for LED lights makes it possible to have many different varieties of configurations, designs, etc.
There are many different kind of SMD LED chips on the market such as 5050 SMD, 1210 (3528) SMD, 0603 SMD and 3020 SMD, the numerical numbers are essentially measurement of the dimensions of the SMD LED size by millimeter.
This particular kind of T20 LED bulbs have 3 pieces 7440 type SMD LED light on the top and 3 pieces 7440 SMD LED lights on each side to make up this total 18 pieces 360 degree shinning T20 LED bulbs. The size of this LED bulb is measured at 0.6" for diameter and 2" for length.
The LED light bulbs use the highest quality Surface Mounting Technology SMD chips which will produce a super bright and pure color. High quality is our promise.
General speaking, this type of T20 LED bulbs can replace 7440, 7441, 7443, 7444, 992A filament light bulbs for turn signal lights, tail lights, backup reverse lights, brake lights, etc.
Below are the pictures showing all four colors we carry for this kind of T20 12v car LED, you can click on the LED bulb picture to enlarge.
The stock 7440 bulbs' voltage is 12.8V, with current is measured at 1.64 AMP with total wattage at 21W. Because of this bulb is at 21W, therefore it is also known as W21W bulb. The size of the base is 20mm, therefore it is commonly called as T20 bulb. The average lifespan for the 7440 incandescent bulb is 500 working hours, but our T20 5050 7440 LED bulbs in comparison is ranging from 2,000 up to 20,000 working hours.
